BSC (HONS) COMPUTER SCIENCE is the broadest and most popular of our courses. This cutting-edge programme aims to enable you to develop a thorough grounding in the fundamentals of computer science. You will gain an in-depth knowledge and expertise in the latest techniques concerned with the design and exploitation of modern computer technology.
The course combines core modules with a range of options to develop your theoretical knowledge, practical skills and contextual understanding of computer systems from both hardware and systems software perspectives. Group work and modules specifically designed to deal with professional skills will enable you to put the computing theory into practice.
This course offers the greatest flexibility of option choice in our suite of undergraduate programmes. It is possible to do the course either as a three-year course, or as a four-year sandwich course which includes an industrial placement. Graduates from this course have gone on to work as systems administrators, software developers, project analysts, systems analysts and even company directors. Alternatively, you may want to continue your studies on one of our Master's-level taught courses or research programmes.

BSc/BEng 240 points (e.g. C,C,C in A levels or M,M,M from BTEC National Diploma) including 160 points from two GCE A levels, two 6-unit VCE A levels or one VCE Double Award in relevant subjects.
If you are taking GCE A levels it is desirable, although not essential, that you undertake study at GCE A-level standard in related subjects such as Computing, ICT, Mathematics or other science subjects. AS or A Level General Studies points as well as Key Skills (Level 3) may also be included in your points total.
We also require Mathematics and English GCSE at least at C grade.
In addition, if your first language is not English, a test of written and spoken English normally needs to have been passed at grade 6.0 for IELTS (with no subtest below 5.5) or for TOEFL (87 for the Internet-based test).
